Scottish Water – the DCC wish to understand the current constraints [eg to expansion if development in Dunblane required this] and issues [eg odour problems] . A site visit will take place and a representative from Scottish Water will attend the March DCC meeting.
ATM Card Reading Device – there was a foiled attempt at the RBS in the High St, Dunblane. I’d recommend everyone take necessary precautions, in particular cover your hand as you type your pin number [ cameras devices can be placed above keypad ] and if you notice anything suspicious contact the police. Don’t attempt to remove or tamper with any device you suspect is there.
- New Community Inspector – Inspector Paton replaces the previous Inspector Sharkey.
- Break ins – there has been a spate of break ins in Dunblane – police are collaborating with Tayside police since there may be a connection to the break ins taking place in their area.
Public Toilet Closure – toilets located near The Chimes at the cathedral end of town will close. Toilets at the library and burgh chambers will be available instead. Toilets at Bridgend will remain open until similar comfort partners can be negotiated. Signage will be put up to direct people to new locations.
Update on Adverse Weather Issues – DCC are working with Stirling Council [SC] over the recent issues which included ineffective snow clearing [roads and pavements], delays and non filling of grit bins, problems with refuse collection including Kinbuck area, SC salt supplies, encouragement of community snow clearing outside own homes. It was noted there are several unofficial grit bins in Dunblane and surrounding area –Kinbuck, Allanwater Road is NOT an official one. DCC have insisted NO grit bins be removed until the full review of recent adverse weather concludes between DCC and SC.
Dunblane High School – it was announced yesterday that Frank Lennon, the current acting head teacher will remain permanently at Dunblane High School. He was formerly the head teacher at St Modans.
VICO Planning Consultation – this is one of the 3 proposals for a retail development in Dunblane. The site for this is opposite the police station in Dunblane, beside where the lodge house is. VICO have announced they will begin their public consultation process mid March so watch out for notices for roadshows etc
Gladman Planning Application Barbush – the DCC have provided their response to this to SC planning department.
Beauly to Denny – no confirmed start date for this in our area. Still on-going discussions with SSE and SC. Indicative dates show mid March as a possible start date. I’ve asked for a Kinbuck community event as soon as start dates are confirmed which will allow us to understand more fully what is happening and when. In the meantime there will be a community event in Braco which I will email and let you know about once I am told the dates. Although it relates to work further up the line, given the closeness some of you may wish to go along for info. The SC website now has minutes of the Beauly to Denny Steering Group meetings – here is the link >
Balfour Beattie have been confirmed as the contractor and I will meet with their liaison officer in the near future.
BT Phonebox Ashfield – Ashfield Village Group considering adopting this kiosk from BT under their adopt a kiosk initiative.
High Street GAP Site – this will be called Riverview.
Next DCC meeting Monday 7th March at 7.30pm in the Burgh Chambers.
